Call For Papers
The third issue of Screen Sound is scheduled for publication in mid 2012. The issue theme is ‘Songs on the Soundtrack’. Submissions are invited that address this theme by analysing:

•songs in feature or short films, or television – either composed or adapted for the screen; song-based music documentaries; song snatches used online; jingles for advertisements, campaigns or games; television theme songs; song-based children’s programs; etc;
•industry perspectives (eg licensing personnel and issues; budgeting; etc);
•songs used as marketing (eg the contemporary role of song-based soundtrack CD releases and other merchandising);
•songs in relation to narrative; the vexed issue of so-called ‘compiled’ scores; musicals and dance-based narratives featuring songs; lyrics and screenplay; etc
•semiotic analyses of voice and performance; content analyses of songs with image tracks; audience analyses of reception to songs;
•other relevant approaches and issues.
Screen Sound is also keen to include articles on sound in television, online, games, advertising and media performance domains, whether or not they address the issue theme.
