L’objet de ce livre collectif est d’offrir un terrain d’expressions libres sur les liens harmonieux ou dissonants entre les cinéastes et la musique, et plus particulièrement, entre cinéastes et musiciens. Dans quelle mesure peut-on parler d’un duo artistique : comment définir précisément la complicité audio-visuelle entre cinéaste et compositeur ? Et surtout dans quelle mesure peut-on parler parfois, même au cœur d’un duo de longue date, d’un duel audio-visuel : quand les deux corps de métier et les deux mondes artistiques s’affrontent-ils inévitablement, et parfois se contredisent ? C’est véritablement sur ces deux notions de duo et de duel qu’il faudra s’interroger ici.
Chaque proposition de contribution pourra s’apparenter à une étude de cas inédite (historique et/ou analytique) sur un duo cinéaste-compositeur (classique ou contemporain), le temps d’un seul film ou dans le cadre d’une longue collaboration, ou encore un entretien inédit avec un cinéaste et/ou un compositeur, voire, mieux, d’une conversation inédite entre un cinéaste et son musicien.

Position: LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN COMPOSITION FOR FILM MUSIC
Remuneration: A competitive salary package will be offered.
Description:
The incumbent’s primary area of creative work, research and teaching experience should be in the area of composition for film and other moving image genres, and in composition for new media. This is the first post at a university in this country devoted to this area. It is highly recommended that the incumbent also has a background in jazz/popular music performance and/or composition.
Duties: To develop and teach undergraduate courses in the area of film music, sound and the moving image, sometimes in collaboration with the divisions of Film and Television and Digital Arts; to teach aspects of music technology; and supervise graduate composition students. S/he will be expected to play a role in the administration of the Music Division and the School.
Qualifications and Experience:
For the lecturer level: A Masters degree, with work towards a PhD preferable, demonstrable industry experience, and university teaching experience advantageous. For the senior lecturer level: A PhD, university teaching experience and postgraduate supervision, and an established research/creative work record.
